This course is a natural extension of COMM 100 . It focuses on the classical definitions of logic as they pertain to persuasion and argumentation, and reviews the semantics required for proper debate.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: The General Education requirement for Oral Communication is satisfied by COMM 310. To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to:

  1. research a topic, develop an argument, and organize supporting details;
  2. demonstrate coherent college-level oral communication that informs, persuades, or otherwise engages with an audience;
  3. evaluate communication for substance, bias, and intended effect; and
  4. demonstrate the ability to revise and improve oral communication.
