BUSI 410 - Internship Practicum

The internship/ practicum experience provides an opportunity for the student to observe a professional in operation. The internship/practicum course requires students to complete 320 hours at an organization or agency that relates to their chosen field. Academic assignments include keeping a journal, submitting an approved resume, and completing a research paper. The research paper requires students to review scholarly research on a topic that relates to their internship, and discuss the relationship between the scholarly research and their internship experience.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
  1. Evaluate the functions of the professional, including how they related to administration and strategy.
  2. Compre and contrast academic and experiential knowledge.
  3. Evaluate through critical analysis, skills in the “real world” setting.
  4. Self-evaluate their experiences and personal growth during the practicum experience.
  5. Summarize the skills necessary to become a professional in their field.
  6. Compose a journal regarding the internship experiences that can be used as a basis for the research component of the course.
