Prerequisite(s): CITA 110 . Internship Development course should be taken the last semester of Junior year in preparation for the Internship Practicum Restriction(s): None

The Internship Development course is designed to include tools and exercises to help business majors to clarify academic and professional priorities to empower them to explore hands-on internships. The course is designed to support students before their internship practicum course. Students are expected to complete the Internship Development course prior to the start of the internship. Business faculty will work with students to identify goals for internships, desired learning outcomes, and to approve the internship practicum. Students will consider their interest in their field and work with the course instructor /internship advisor to obtain an approved internship.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Develop an understanding of the process of preparation and presentation of a job internship.
- Construct a working resume that is written and designed by the student.
- Create a working professional cover letter that can be individualized for each internship application
- Develop a set of goals for their internship
- Explain work and internship etiquette and ethics, including use of technology.
- Assess individual strengths and weaknesses in preparation for internship.
- Explain organizational and corporate culture through clear oral and written components.
- Model professional presentation of oneself in the work environment.
- Develop a relationship with a firm in order to secure an internship for credit.
- Make use of networking opportunities.
- Choose a university faculty member who will act as mentor during the internship process.
- Explain the requirements of the reflection component of the internship experience.
