CARP 170 - Construction Estimating

This course introduces students to common quantity take-off procedures for estimating residential construction projects. Materials for foundations, framing, exterior finish, and interior finish will be estimated and organized on quality take-off sheets. Labor costs and material pricing and scheduling will be considered.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Students will be able to complete a quantity takeoff of materials for a residential construction project.
Students will be able to accurately assign unit and total material costs to each item required for a residential construction project.
Students will be able to calculate the labor costs for a residential construction project.
Students will be able to develop and utilize a computerized estimating template to calculate quantities, material costs and labor required for a residential construction project.
Students will be able to discuss the different types of construction estimates and their purposes.
Students will be able to understand construction scheduling as it applies to the estimate.
