- NURS 115 with a grade of C+ or better and
- BIOL 220 with a grade of C or better and
- BIOL 225 with a grade of C or better
Restriction(s): Nursing - AAS (prelicensure program) or Nursing: Dual Degree - AAS/BSN
This course introduces the concepts of maternal newborn nursing designed to promote, maintain, and restore health for the childbearing family and the newborn utilizing the nursing process and evidenced based caring interventions.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Apply safety principles and the nursing process in caring for the childbearing family and newborn.
- Analyze the common interdisciplinary interventions for the maternity, postpartum and newborn population utilizing evidence based practice guidelines.
- Evaluate the role of the professional nurse related to assessment, teaching, prioritization and delegation in both the acute care and community setting for a diverse maternity, postpartum and newborn population.
