SUNY General Education Requirement


Students who intend to receive AA, AS, or baccalaureate degrees must satisfy SUNY and campus General Education (GE) requirements to graduate. Program Learning Outcomes


Graduates of the Applied Communications BS program should be able to:

  • Students will be able to communicate effectively in oral, written, and / or multiple-media modes in ways that are rhetorically appropriate for the purpose and audience.
  • Students will be able to locate, evaluate, synthesize, and apply information from a variety of sources to problems and / or challenges within the field of communications.
  • Students will demonstrate proficiency with a variety of multimedia tools.
  • Rhetorical Track:
    • Students will be able to create and apply communication solutions to meet clients’, companies’, or service providers’ goals in areas such as marketing, outreach, and / or education.
  • Organizational Track:
    • Students will be able to apply systems-thinking solutions to challenges within and between organizations, jurisdictions, and / or communities.
