This course examines the ways in which literature represents the environments around us. We will explore theoretical and philosophical perspectives about how humans perceive and relate to nature and the environment. We will examine a variety of texts (including fiction, poetry, and non-fiction) through an ecocriticism framework.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: The General Education requirement for Humanities is satisfied by LITR 320. To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of the conventions and methods of at least one of the humanities; and
- recognize and analyze nuance and complexity of meaning through critical reflections on text, visual images, or artifacts.
