This course will survey the history of New York State, its land and its people from the Colonial period through the beginning of the 21st Century. This course will also examine the physical and environmental history of the region, as well as the demographic, economic, political, social, and cultural history of New York State.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: The General Education requirement for US History & Civic Engagement is satisfied by HIST 315. To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to:
- demonstrate understanding of United States’ society and/or history, including the diversity of individuals and communities that make up the nation;
- understand the role of individual participation in US communities and government; and
- apply historical and contemporary evidence to draw, support, or verify conclusions.
