Students will learn the basics of operating a golf course business. Students will understand what types of special events are offered at a golf course and how they should be administrated. Students will learn how to manage a golf cart fleet at a golf course. Students will learn how to repair golf clubs.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Know how rules are made and changed; possess a good, general understanding of the USGA The Rules of Golf
- Be able to quickly locate applicable rules for a given situation; be able to work with rules committees and committees in charge of the competitions;
- Create a plan for promoting and teaching etiquette and the rules to golfers
- Plan the format, size, and eligibility requirements, given the purpose of the tournament
- Coordinate approval and support for a tournament plan
- Organize a tournament staff
- Successfully promote tournament events
- Prepare the course for tournament play
- Plan for logistical needs of competitors, spectators, and guests
- Evaluate successes and failures to improve future tournaments
- Use computer software to administer a tournament tournaments
