PEDH 107 - Intermediate Swimming Credit Hours: 1 Lecture Hours: 0 Laboratory (or Other) Hours: 2
Prerequisite(s): A course participant should be a level-3 swimmer who has completed the primary skills of locomotion and stroke readiness. Additional requirements include the ability to swim 15 yards using both the front and back crawl strokes and the ability to successfully float and/or tread in deep water for 30 seconds. Restriction(s): None

Intermediate Swimming offers students the opportunity for development and increased proficiency in six coordinated strokes, diving progressions, basic aquatic exercise techniques, personal safety skills, and basic water-rescue methods. In addition, the student swimmer has the opportunity to progress through the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” program levels 4-6.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: Through this course each student will:
- Develop proficiency in basic aquatic skills
- Demonstrate and perform in the area of stroke development and refinement
- Experience health benefits related to an aquatic exercise program
- Understand and apply personal safety skills
