This course focuses on the development of the nursing educator as an advanced practice nurse. Using case studies, development of a literature review, and discussions, students will synthesize content related to issues and trends in advanced nursing practice, ethical/legal topics, student diversity, teaching in classroom and clinical settings, and faculty role development.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Analyze diverse components of the faculty role in academic and clinical settings
- Examine current issues and trends affecting nursing education, with historical influences
- Integrate ethical and legal foundations of education into the faculty role
- Explore educational strategies for learners from diverse backgrounds
- Develop a personal philosophy of education and professional educator development plan.
