AUTO 124 - ASE Work Experience I

This course consists of a 180-hour work experience in a repair shop setting where the student will perform a variety of diagnostic and repair tasks with a focus on electrical and brake systems as relates to the requirements of the AUTO 115 brake systems and the AUTO 125 electrical I courses. The student will be supervised by management (preferably ASE certified) of the participating shop. Students are required to maintain a log of all tasks and clock hours completed. The cooperating supervisor and program faculty must approve the records before a grade is assigned and credit awarded.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Demonstrate correct use of hand tools and shop equipment.
Perform routine maintenance/repair to passenger cars and light trucks.
Demonstrate and apply diagnostic and repair skills in the areas of automotive chassis and electrical systems.
Demonstrate respectable work place skills and safety procedures required by the automotive repair industry.
Correctly analyze service information from computerized and conventional sources.
Complete a work order that includes customer and vehicle information along with the concern, cause and correction of the vehicle.
