This course introduces the fundamental concepts of biology including cells, genetics, evolution, biodiversity, and ecology through lecture and laboratory activities. These concepts will be applied to contemporary issues in biology. This course is for non-nursing or non-science majors only.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the methods scientists use to explore natural phenomena, including observation, hypothesis development, measurement and data collection, experimentation, evaluation of evidence, and employment of mathematical analysis.
Students will apply scientific data, concepts, and models in one of the natural sciences.
Describe the fundamental concepts of biology including cells, genetics, evolution, biodiversity and ecology
Apply these fundamental concepts to contemporary issues in biology.
