Orientation to Groundskeeper Apprenticeship is designed to introduce apprentices and pre-apprentices to the related instruction component of the Groundskeeper apprenticeship. Students in this course will learn the basics of how to be an online, apprenticeship student. Topics in this course will include how to navigate Online Delhi (D2L - the online learning delivery platform), how to develop an apprenticeship portfolio, and how to navigate the in-person lab portion of the program. Additionally, students will learn basic professional skills, to include professional writing and communications, resume, and cover letter building, professional portfolio development, job application etiquette, and interview skills and techniques.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: Students will be able to:

Complete assessments and other assignments using Online Delhi (D2L/Brightspace).
Develop an apprentlcehsip portfolio demonstrating required competencies for other related instruction courses.
Register for future related instruction courses required for completion of the Groundskeeper’s Apprenticeship.
Communicate professionally - verbally and elecronically.
Develop a cover letter, resume and/or professional CV/portfolio,
lnterview for a job in the turfgrass industry.
Conduct an interview from the perspective of an employer.
