This is an introductory course in political theory. Starting with classical theory, it traces the evolution of thinking and ideas to modern and postmodern thought. This class focuses on understanding political ideas and concepts with a focus on issues of democracy, representation, and rights of society versus the rights and liberties of an individual.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: The General Education requirement for Humanities is satisfied by GOVT 165. To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of the conventions and methods of at least one of the humanities; and
- recognize and analyze nuance and complexity of meaning through critical reflections on text, visual images, or artifacts.
