VETS 183 - Veterinary Technology Preceptorship I

The preceptorship is designed to involve the student in the daily activities that are encountered in a small animal clinical facility. A minimum of 120 hours of participation in a position relating to veterinary technology in a faculty-approved facility is required. The preceptorship is typically performed during the summer between the student’s first and second years. A “P” passing grade is equivalent to a grade of C or better.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
  1. Involve the student in the daily activities which are encountered in a small animal clinical facility.
  2. Allow the student the opportunity to experience what the veterinary technology profession encompasses.
  3. The student will report on and discuss his/her experience and the relevance of the Veterinary Technology Program courses with the course instructor or other veterinary science faculty or staff.
