VETS 215 - Vet Tech Preceptorship II

Prerequisite(s): VETS 161  (minimum grade C, may be taken concurrently) and VETS 232  (minimum grade C, may be taken concurrently)
Restriction(s): Veterinary Science Technology - AAS  (Online Program)

The preceptorship is designed to involve the student in the daily activities that are encountered in a large and research animal facility. A minimum of 120 hours (60 hours large animal, 60 hours research animal) of participation in a position relating to veterinary technology in a faculty-approved facility is required. Students who successfully complete RATs Camp and/or Farm Camp at SUNY Delhi satisfy the hours requirements for the laboratory and/or large animal portions of the course, respectively. A “P” passing grade is equivalent to a grade of C or better.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
  1. The student will actively be involved in the daily activities which are encountered in an approved animal facility.
  2. The student will experience what the veterinary technology profession encompasses.
  3. The student will report on and discuss their experience and the relevance of the Veterinary Technology Program courses with the course instructor or other veterinary science faculty or staff.
