Required Knowledge and Skills Area: Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (23DV)

To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to:

1. describe the historical and contemporary societal factors that shape the development of individual and group identity involving race, class, and gender;
2. analyze the role that complex networks of social structures and systems play in the creation and perpetuation of the dynamics of power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity; and
3. apply the principles of rights, access, equity, and autonomous participation to past, current, or future social justice action.

Required Knowledge and Skills Area: Civic Discourse (23CD)

To meet this General Education requirement, students will be able to: 

1. the deliberation of ideas through reasoned inquiry that seeks new information and considers multiple points of view; and
2. the ethical practice of advocacy, dissent, and dialogue that constructively attends to points of conflict.

Note: While these courses satisfy both the “Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice” and the “Civic Discourse” General Education requirements at SUNY Delhi, transfer courses may not satisfy both categories. Transfer coursework satisfies General Education requirements based on how the course was offered at the college/university where the course was taken.
