Microcredential Learning Outcomes

A student completing this microcredential should be able to:

1. Demonstrate advanced technical competencies in laboratory animal procedures, including species-specific handling, dosing, blood collection, aseptic technique, and anesthetic monitoring in rodents, rabbits, and nonhuman primates.

2. Apply knowledge of animal behavior, enrichment, and welfare practices to support the physiological and psychological health of laboratory species.

3. Interpret and implement animal use protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and colony health surveillance systems with attention to legal compliance, ethical considerations, humane research practices, and animal welfare.

4. Critically evaluate the biomedical contributions of laboratory animals and the responsibilities of the research team, emphasizing the importance of inclusive, ethical, and culturally aware approaches to scientific discovery.
