This course provides an overview of requirements essential to the establishment and operation of a small contracting business. Factors and legal considerations necessary to the performance of this operation are covered along with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a carpenter employable in today’s market.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Students will be able to identify and describe the different business models.
- Students will be able to develop and present topics before an audience.
- Students will be able to discuss the importance of bookkeeping, taxes, insurance and contracts.
- Students will assemble a complete proposal for a small home for a client as a capstone project.
- Students will develop a resume and cover letter and possess interview skills.
