This course will examine the complex issues impacting the nursing profession, patient care, and the healthcare system. The course provides opportunities to enhance evidenced based critical thinking skills and assist students to recognize and develop their professional role.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Demonstrate understanding of factors that impact the role of the professional nurse, and develop strategies to facilitate transition into practice.
Understand the effect of political, social, economic, legal, and ethical concepts as they impact nursing practice.
Investigate different roles of the professional nurse as they impact the management and coordination of care for the diverse client in a variety of settings.
Critique evidence based research and its impact on nursing practice.
