This course provides an overview of requirements essential to the establishment and operation of a small contracting business. Factors and legal considerations necessary to the performance of this operation are covered along with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a carpenter employable in today’s market.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Students will be able to identify and describe the different business models.
Students will be able to develop and present topics before an audience.
Students will be able to discuss the importance of bookkeeping, taxes, insurance and contracts.
Students will assemble a complete proposal for a small home for a client as a capstone project.
Students will develop a resume and cover letter and possess interview skills.
