This course presents the principles of computer-aided drafting as applied to residential construction drawings. The course focuses on the drawing conventions and building technology related to residential construction. Students will produce a set of fully detailed and dimensioned construction drawings for a moderately complex wood frame residence at the pace of a drawing a week.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:

Develop basic Architectural CAD skills
Apply drawing conventions for light frame residential buildings
Produce a set of industry standard working drawings for a small residence including the use of dimensions, notes and symbols on plans, sections and elevation drawings
Apply drawing standards including scale, title, boarder and title blocks to architectural construction documents
Define and explain basic methods and materials of residential construction
Apply standard material sizes and standard material assemblies in residential working drawing
