This course is a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of organizational communication and effective public relations.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: Students will
- demonstrate effective communication skills within a variety of group settings
- practice the written and oral skills that lead to organizational cohesion, efficiency, and productivity
- communicate with accuracy and attention to detail across a variety of communication platforms
- navigate complex relationships among supervisors and members of organizations
- communicate effectively and clearly using verbal, non-verbal, and listening skills
- identify organizational models, interpersonal types, and leadership qualities
- construct, send, receive, evaluate, and act upon information ethically
- apply decision-making skills, problem solving techniques, and conflict strategies
