Topics covered in this course include: atomic structure and periodicity of elements, molecular structure and bonding, stoichiometry, solutions, states of matter, and introductory thermodynamics.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Understanding of the methods scientists use to explore natural phenomena, including observation, hypothesis development, measurement and data collection, experimentation, evaluation of evidence, and employment of mathematical analysis; and
- Application of scientific data, concepts, and models in one of the natural (or physical) sciences.
- Student will demonstrate a basic knowledge of chemistry, including but not limited to, atomic structure, elements, bonding, chemical reactions, and stoichiometry.
