This course is an introduction to the subject of human cultural diversity as well as similarity. Topics discussed include: evolutionary change; socio-political levels of organizations; kinship system analysis; marriage systems; political, economic, and religious behavioral systems; language; and personality research.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Students will be familiar with basic concepts of the whole discipline of Anthropology
- Students will understand the basic theoretical approaches to the understanding of human cultural variation.
- Students will be familiar with core cultural institutions
- Students will be familiar with the prime cultural anthropological methodology - participant observation.
