MATH 115 Statistics This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the concepts, tools, and techniques of business analytics. Students will learn how to use data-driven approaches to inform strategic decision-making in business environments. Topics include descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics; data visualization; statistical analysis; forecasting; and optimization models. Emphasis is placed on real-world applications using software tools such as Excel. Through hands-on projects and case studies, students will develop analytical skills to solve complex business problems and support data-informed decision-making across various industries.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Recognize and explain the major concepts of business analytics, including data collection, data cleaning, and data visualization.
- Use descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and basic forecasting techniques to analyze business data.
- Interpret data results effectively and communicate them to business stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner using appropriate visualizations.
- Use software tools (Excel) to analyze and visualize data sets relevant to business scenarios.
- Identify business problems that can be solved or improved with data analytics and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions in a business context by applying analytical techniques to real-world data
