This lab and clinical-based course introduces foundational nursing concepts across the lifespan, preparing students to provide basic nursing care for diverse clients. Clinical experiences emphasize the beginner level of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSAs) required to understand the multiple dimensions of Patient Centered Care, Safety, Quality Improvement, Informatics, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Evidence Based Practice. The nursing process is introduced throughout this course as the fundamental framework for nursing practice and the development of holistic client care. Evidence-based nursing practices will be presented, including basic assessment skills, communication techniques, and identifying essential safety measures. 

Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
  1. Perform evidence based care of the client using assessment skills, basic pharmacological principles, therapeutic communication, and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  2. Perform beginning skills used in basic nursing care incorporating essential quality and safety measures.
  3. Identify introductory health-related informatics in the care of clients.
  4.  Demonstrate competency in basic dosage calculations and medication administration in the laboratory setting
  5. Develop understanding of the nursing process.
