This course examines the concepts and constructs which form informal and formal theory related to the behavior of individuals and groups within organizations and organizational processes. Emphasis is on basic human processes, motivational theories, stress, group dynamics, power and leadership, organizational structure and change. The course introduces and applies the concepts of human capital investment through career development, relationship management, leveraging of diversity, and the development of social capital through communications,collaboration, dispute resolution in an integrated program of planning, organizing, leading and controlling for the purpose of performance management.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: - Apply the fundamentals of organizational behavior in course discussions and case study analysis.
- Examine the function of motivation and reward systems to the effective management of employees.
- Develop appropriate leadership strategies.
