This course explores how healthcare policy, quality, and information technology intersect to improve care delivery and outcomes. Students will examine quality indicators, informatics systems, and the social, economic, and legislative factors influencing healthcare disparities. Emphasis is placed on integrating policy and informatics to promote evidence-based change, equitable care, and improved outcomes for diverse and vulnerable populations.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Analyze healthcare quality indicators and informatics systems to assess their effects on care delivery and patient outcomes.
- Evaluate social, economic, and legislative factors contributing to healthcare disparities and shaping policy decisions.
- Apply health policy and informatics principles to develop evidence-based strategies that support equitable and high-quality care.
- Create a policy and technology-based improvement plan targeting the needs and outcomes of a specific vulnerable population.
