The Internship Development course is designed to include tools and exercises to help business majors to clarify academic and professional priorities to empower them to explore hands-on internships. The course is designed to support students before their internship practicum course. Students are expected to complete the Internship Development course prior to the start of the internship. Business faculty will work with students to identify goals for internships, align those goals with desired learning outcomes, and to approve the internship practicum. Students will consider their interest in their field and work with the course instructor/ internship advisor to obtain an approved internship. Taken the Fall or Spring semester of junior year in preparation for Internship Practicum to occur in the semester or summer break to follow.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- apply concepts from the knowledge domain of studies in real-world situations comparable to employment in a relevant field.
- evaluate their application of human resources management concepts to the professional experience contemplated.
- perform exploratory research to demonstrate the capacity to evaluate and create recommendations for improvement, reinforcement, anchoring, or elimination.
