Restriction(s): Veterinary Science Technology - AAS ; enrolled in the last semester of the AAS degree program
This course is designed to prepare students for the veterinary technician national exam which is required for licensing. Students will engage in test taking and critical thinking techniques and strategies. Topics include pharmacology and pharmacy, surgical nursing, dentistry, laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia, emergency medicine and critical care, and pain management and analgesia. Students must be eligible to take the VTNE.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: Students will be able to:
- Recall knowledge from previous veterinary science technology courses to prepare for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE)
- Construct a self-guided study plan consisting of the student’s individual needs
- Understand the structure and process for registering for the VTNE
- Critique comprehension of each VTNE domain to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses.
