CITA 336 - Networking and Security Concepts II Credit Hours: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Laboratory (or Other) Hours: 0
Prerequisite(s): CITA 236 Restriction(s): Students enrolled in Cyber Operations - AAS or Cyber Operations Management - BBA may not take this course.
The course will examine network security and defense. Contemporary networking concepts such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, wireless transmission, virtual networks, cloud computing, segmentation, threats, and troubleshooting will be analyzed. Students will review and assess a wide variety of tools, viruses, and malware in order to construct an effective Incident Response Plan.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course: Students will be able to:
- Manage servers, switches and router security
- Configure and perform administrative tasks on a host firewall to provide local security.
- Establish and implement a wireless and wired network connection for a device on the network.
- Document Policies and respond to social engineering exploits
- Perform data and server backup and recovery tasks.
