ARCH 481 - Architectural Design VII Credit Hours: 6 Lecture Hours: 0 Laboratory (or Other) Hours: 12
Prerequisite(s): C+ average in ARCH 430 and ARCH 470 or by department portfolio review.
Note that if the student has below a C+ in either course, but an average of C+ between both courses, they will need assistance to register. This comprehensive design studio focuses on technical concerns critical to the practice of architecture such as lighting, materials, structures, building envelopes and code requirements. These technical elements are studied through the lens of sustainability and integrated design. Technical software is used to analyze and document the building design.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Professionally communicate by writing, speaking and creating clear and accurate presentation graphics and architectural orthographic drawings.
- Develop projects and problem solve using the iterative design processes.
- Create designs that meet aesthetic goals, enhances human experience and improve the site and community they are built in.
- Formulate comprehensive design solutions that incorporate user requirements, comprehensive technical details and sustainable solutions in an integrated manner.
