VETS 183 - Veterinary Technology Preceptorship I Credit Hours: 1 Lecture Hours: 0 Laboratory (or Other) Hours: 40

Prerequisite(s): VETS 131 and VETS 132 and VETS 160 and VETS 171 and VETS 180 and VETS 198 The preceptorship is designed to involve the student in the daily activities that are encountered in a small animal clinical facility. A minimum of 120 hours of participation in a position relating to veterinary technology in a faculty-approved facility is required. The preceptorship is typically performed during the summer between the student’s first and second years. A “P” passing grade is equivalent to a grade of C or better.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- Involve the student in the daily activities which are encountered in a small animal clinical facility.
- Allow the student the opportunity to experience what the veterinary technology profession encompasses.
- The student will report on and discuss his/her experience and the relevance of the Veterinary Technology Program courses with the course instructor or other veterinary science faculty or staff.
