Nursing Education Advanced Certificate


The Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Education program focuses on developing knowledge and skills to prepare for the advanced practice role of the nurse educator. Competencies include teaching and learning strategies, building curriculum and the use of instructional design principles and applications, integration of educational technology, program planning, assessment, and evaluation, and further development and application of knowledge and skills through an education practicum experience. 

Program Learning Outcomes


The program’s educational objective is to provide master’s and doctoral prepared nurses with further knowledge and skills to enable them to assume faculty and educator roles. 

  • Apply theories, principles, and strategies of teaching and learning to nursing education programs in academic and/or clinical learning environments.
  • Integrate innovative educational tools and instructional design processes into the design and implementation of nursing educational content. 
  • Explore models of curricular design and development in nursing education.
  • Synthesize approaches for learner assessment and evaluation for academic and clinical nursing settings. 
  • Develop a skillset in the nurse educator role.
