Nursing Administration Advanced Certificate


The Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Administration program focuses on developing knowledge and skills to prepare for the higher-level role of the nurse executive/administrator. Competencies developed include knowledge and skills relating to budget and finance in healthcare, human resource development, strategic planning and management strategies, and application of knowledge through a nurse executive/administrative healthcare practicum experience.

Program Learning Outcomes


The program’s educational objective will be to provide advanced practice nurses with further knowledge and skills to enable them to assume administrative and executive-level roles in healthcare:

  • Explore budget and resource decisions contributing to the achievement of organizational outcomes and health care resource management within the context of providing efficient and cost-effective quality care.
  • Apply concepts related to staff satisfaction and diversity of the workforce to create effective partnerships within organizations. 
  • Identify processes for effective management of staff performance problems and the elements of collective bargaining and management of a unionized staff.
  • Utilize a variety of administrative strategies to achieve measurable patient care delivery outcomes that effect positive change in patient communities.
  • Develop a skillset in the nurse administrator role through an advanced administrative practicum experience focused on project management.
