Requirements for All Students for Junior Status in the BT Program
By the end of the fourth semester all students must have:
- a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in all SUNY Delhi courses
- a 3.0 or higher GPA in ARCH 125 , ARCH 135 , ARCH 210 , ARCH 240 , or equivalent courses
- successfully earned 60 credits of the SUNY Delhi AAS Architectural Technology curriculum or have equivalent preparation
Minimum Total Credit Hours = 123
Program Learning Outcomes
A graduate of the Architectural Design and Building BT program should be able to:
- Apply fundamental principles of drafting to the preparation of residential and commercial construction drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, schedules, details, and specifications.
- Demonstrate design conceptualization strategies, the process of design, and the development and resolution of specific construction details in the design of residential and commercial building systems.
- Employ traditional graphic means, both drawings and models, to illustrate and orally present completed design projects.
- Exhibit technical knowledge of the physical properties, design considerations, integration, and interrelationships of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and structural building systems found in typical buildings.
- Attain basic understanding of architectural history from pre-history to the present.
SUNY General Education Requirement
Students who intend to receive AA, AS, or baccalaureate degrees must satisfy SUNY and campus General Education (GE) requirements to graduate. Students should be aware that GE requirements may vary by academic program. Consult with your academic advisor for program-specific information; for general information: General Education
AAS and AOS degree students may not be required to fulfill General Education (GE) requirements; however, any student who may wish to transfer should complete as many GE courses as possible. Consult with your academic advisor.
Technical Standards for Architecture Technology Programs
The technical standards listed below are intended to inform students of the skills, abilities, and behavioral expectations required in this program. These technical standards reflect performance abilities and characteristics that are necessary to successfully complete the requirements of this program at SUNY Delhi. These standards are not conditions of admission to the program, but persons interested in applying for admission to the program should review this list to develop a better understanding of the skills, abilities, and behavioral expectations necessary to successfully complete the program. General: Solve complex architectural design problems through analysis of problem elements and synthesis of problem elements into coherent design solutions.
- Read and understand assignment requirements.
- Frame and ask questions relevant to the solution of assignments.
- Develop ability to self criticize.
- Research topics, both from previous instruction and outside or additional sources, to support design solutions.
Apply basic math, trigonometry, and algebra in solution of technical problems.

General: Use sensory cues to do create accurate drawings and models.
- Develop designs from rough sketches through to effective presentation drawings and models.

General: Possess mobility and dexterity to complete computer and hand drawings, and to build scale models. Possess mobility, strength, and dexterity to use hand tools in building construction labs.
- Produce lines, shapes, and figures on paper and boards, using computer and hand methods.
- Measure, cut, and assemble scale models from cardboard and other light materials, using hand tools.
- Lift, saw, nail, hammer, and bolt light-wood or metal construction components in construction lab courses.
General: Communicate to gather and convey information and concepts.

- Present design ideas orally and graphically.
