In order to succesfully write, edit, and grade, students will need to be equipped with a knowledge of the grammatical [various; avoids monolithic view] conventions of standard English.
Student Learning Outcomes of the Course:
- identify the grammatical categories and functions of words and phrases within a sentence
- explain the structure of a sentence (syntax) and the form of a word (morphology)
- apply understanding of syntax and morphology to editing and grading
- recognize impact of community and media on grammar
